On October 4 and 5, 2017, Galway, port city in the West Region of Ireland, hosted <\/span>Medtec Ireland<\/span><\/a>, the largest event in the medical technology sector.<\/span><\/p>\n

The annual event brings together industry leaders to demonstrate their innovations to potential investors. At this year\u2019s edition, there were more than 700 participants from around the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

Invited by UBM, the company in charge of the event, Index seized the opportunity to<\/span> inform entrepreneurs about the importance of the web<\/b> in this rapidly expanding sector.<\/span><\/p>\n

Andr\u00e9 Rizzo, partner in charge of business strategy at Index and guest speaker at the event, saw two great opportunities for the agency. First, it was an opportunity to network and present our company to a new sector and, second, it was also what he described as an opportunity to take \u201ca baby step toward Europe.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The program for the event included speakers, contests, workshops, and discussions, punctuated by presentations of revolutionary new medical technologies from around the world. For example, there is now a new technology that will allow people who have lost their hearing to continue to recognize sounds via a simple connection with a specific part of their brain? Impressive!<\/span><\/p>\n

You may be wondering what any of this has to do with <\/span>digital marketing<\/b>. The answer lies in how, despite being a rapidly expanding and truly innovative sector, medical technology has been, up to now, unable to take advantage of advances in web technology to market itself.<\/span><\/p>\n

Index\u2019s presentation thus focused on the <\/span>importance of the web in the medical sector<\/b>. Finding a hospital, scheduling an appointment, purchasing medication, everything is now available and searched for online. <\/span>72% of internet users say they have done health-related online searches in the last year.<\/b><\/p>\n

The whole world is digitizing and it is important, if not necessary, for companies in a sector so advanced in other areas to learn how to adapt to the reality of the web in their approach to marketing and to learn how to choose which partners to work with.<\/span><\/p>\n

Medtec Europe<\/span><\/a>, to be held from April 17 to 19, 2018, in Stuttgart, will prove whether startups and companies in the medical sector will have taken advantage of the digital opportunities presented in Ireland.
